FAQ

Questions students ask us.

Who can apply to Opytask?
You must be actively enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited US university with a valid .edu email. We verify enrollment before your first payout.
How much does it actually pay?
Rates start at $25/hr for entry-tier briefs and rise to $55+/hr for reviewer and specialist tiers. Every brief shows its exact rate before you claim it—we don't use vague per-task pricing that hides the hourly.
What kind of work is it?
Academic-grade tasks: writing rubrics, evaluating model answers, authoring math and CS problems, reviewing code, annotating subject-matter data. The work typically goes to contractors with a graduate degree.
How much time do I need to commit?
There's no weekly minimum. Most contributors work 4–12 hours per week, fitted around classes. You claim briefs when you're free.
How and when do I get paid?
Payouts are on a Net 14 cadence via direct deposit to a US bank account. A 1099-NEC is issued annually if you earn over the IRS threshold.
How is this different from Mechanical Turk?
Opytask is invite-only, credential-verified, and pays a premium hourly rate for work that requires education. We don't run microtasks—briefs are scoped in hours, not cents.
